Stellaris v4.3 Patch Notes

Released: 3/17/2026

Patch 4.3 “Cetus” was a deliberate correction pass — the goal wasn’t to recreate pre-4.0 balance, but to walk back some of the power creep in navies and economies that 4.0 introduced, and set a new baseline going forward. Early-and-mid-game challenges got meaningfully harder as a side effect, which is worth knowing if you’re following older strategy content.

The scale of the problem 4.3 was addressing wasn’t subtle — community discussion at the time described the post-4.0, pre-4.3 period in blunt terms, citing roughly 2x worse performance than the prior 3.14 version and multiple long-standing vanilla features (including slavery mechanics) breaking outright, on top of the balance issues. If you played through that window and remember it being rough, that wasn’t just perception — 4.3 existed specifically to fix it.

What to watch for if you’re reading older guides

Guides or numbers written before March 2026 may reference job efficiency and production values that no longer apply — 4.3 touched a large number of these across the board. Treat pre-4.3 numeric claims as outdated until re-verified.
