Unity

Unity is the core resource for unlocking tradition branches and certain policy/leader mechanics — its output efficiency directly shapes your mid-game development pace.

Unity is a resource new players tend to underrate. It doesn’t show up directly in build costs the way energy or minerals do, but your unity output efficiency directly determines how fast you unlock tradition branches — and by extension, how soon you get to key ascension perks.

Why it deserves attention

Low unity output means slow tradition unlocks, which drags down your whole mid-game development pace (including the timing of your ascension perks). A lot of “why does my mid-game feel stuck” situations actually trace back to neglected unity production.

Common ways to boost it

  • Prioritize buildings that produce unity, especially early on to build a solid base.
  • Certain civics and governments have a natural bonus to unity output — worth factoring in when planning your ethics/civics combo.
  • Specific job types (usually tied to culture or administration) produce unity directly — allocating population sensibly into these roles can meaningfully improve output.

Unity output is directly tied to your tradition unlock pace — see the Traditions wiki entry for the full system breakdown.
